You are investing into your overall health. The brain is a vital organ and an important one. Psychiatric symptoms can not only impact overall mental performance, but also physical performance. Every organ system is tied in with how the brain functions. It is not just a better quality of life you are working towards, but also helping to reduce your overall health risk factors to create longevity in life.

My practice primarily focuses on 18-65 years of age. Although trained in broader life cycles, I prefer to delegate certain ages to specialized psychiatrist that may provide a bit more focused care given their expertise and training in that particular age group.

You will need to fill out ALL the intake forms that are provided to you, including histories, HIPPA, Office Policies, and more. This is important because we need to get the relevant documents taken care of early so we can focus on your assessment on the first visit and not losing any time.
-
No. My practice follows a self-pay model to provide consistent, personalized care without the limitations of insurance networks. Changes in employment or insurance coverage can often disrupt treatment or force patients to switch providers. By removing insurance from the process, we ensure your care can continue seamlessly once established with us. This approach supports long-term relationships and eliminates the need to restart with a new provider. My focus remains on delivering stable, uninterrupted care so you can prioritize your mental health.

No worries, we can provide superbills of your appointments which you can submit to your insurance for re-imbursement based on your out-of-network plan options. This can also be done for other accounts such as HSA.
There are certain insurances I am credentialed under. If you would like to see if your insurance is amongst those, please visit the following site which will direct you to our other platform that accepts insurance: Jay Patel - Psychiatrist | Headway PLEASE NOTE: I am accepting insurance for only short term as we are transitioning to a “Cash Based” focus in the near future.

No. We are a purely telehealth practice that focuses on bringing access of care to all patients across the state. In order to meet this mission, we are unable to establish a local office where you can come in for your sessions which is required by the DEA in order to write for controlled medications.
However, some patients may already be on controlled medications through their primary care. If this is the case, we can still provide you with guidance on how to best use the medication most effectively and where it is appropriate. Your primary care provider can still continue to write for the controlled medication at their discretion while we can provide insight on how to use them effectively.

Yes! ADHD is a complex condition that is often misunderstood when viewed through a single symptom. In our sessions, we take a comprehensive approach to understand how your symptoms affect your daily life and identify the barriers impacting your functioning. While medication can be helpful, it is most effective when combined with practical coping strategies and behavioral support. Relying on medication alone may not address the full picture and can lead to challenges over time, including worsening of symptoms. Our goal is to create a thoughtful, individualized plan that supports lasting, meaningful improvement, not just short term gains.

Yes! Anxiety comes in many faces. Understanding how our mind operates and where anxiety comes from is very important to figure out so you know how to navigate around it. I teach my patients they are in the “driver seat” of their mind. While anxiety may try to take over, we work to build boundaries with anxiety to regulate it better while keeping you in control. This can be done with combination of pharmacological and therapeutic interventions.

I believe in “Less is More”. We need to find a medication regimen that “Fits You”. I follow evidence-based medicine practices to bring to you the most up to date recommendations. There is an art form to prescribing. It is important to understand how the medications are working in your body in order to know how to navigate them. My practice focuses on educating you about your medicines so you have a better understanding of what is happening and feel more at ease. I guide you through the medications each step of the way to make sure we find something that works for you. My goal is to keep you from becoming a pharmacy. I work to find a fitting medication that is well tolerated and is responding well, in order to justify its use. If a medication is not doing what it should, then we simply find something else that will.

I start with motivational interviewing to see why you want to make a change. Based on your goals, I work with you to understand your barriers and identify your supports. I even go into creating a plan with you on how to transition off the substance safely and effectively, and then work on maintenance plans. Plans are completely individualized to your specific situation so that we can aim for maximizing success.
There is no “easy” substance to get off of. However what makes people successful in their journey is having the right support to get them through.

Yes, I can write for LAIs, however you would need to find a clinic or pharmacy that can administer the injection to you. We can typically prescribe it to any pharmacy, but you will need to take that prescription to a clinical site with a nurse that can help administer the medication. Sometimes, you may be able to do this at your primary care’s office as well.
-
No. Unfortunately with the frequent monitoring of labs and the complexity of this medication, we usually refer this out to a specialty clinic or your community mental health clinics as they are more structured to manage the medication, labs, and other monitoring all within one site. Please reach out to your town’s community mental health facility for options.

At the end of each session, we will discuss time of follow up based on your specific situation, needs, and requests. You will play a role in determining the frequency of our visits so that it best suits you and your care.
-
Initial Visits will typically take an hour. This will be our longer session to conduct our assessment. Afterwards, you will automatically have a brief follow up session (15 to 20 minutes) at the time duration that fits your schedule and needs. Patients can elect to have more in-depth appointments where if their case needs more time to review medicine options and/or conduct therapy. You can choose to schedule a brief follow up appointment or an extended follow up appointment (50 minutes). Appointments will be made based on timing and availability of both the patient and the provider. Please note that based on availability, longer appointment times are not always available. I will work with your request to accommodate you the best way possible.
